Splash 2020 - Swim Registration

Hi Fox Hunt Families! You may recall roughly 6, 735 days ago we sent out an email promising 2020 Splash, the Desert Edition. Well, as it turns out, it’s raining in the desert. And if there’s rain…we can SPLASH!

So, introducing, 2020 Splash, “Like Water in the Desert” Season-an unexpected, pleasant surprise. Refreshing. If you’re a camel, life saving even. How does it work? Here’s what you need to know:

YOUR COACHING STAFF:
We are thrilled to introduce to you Ms.  Maggie Neubig, our Head Coach for the 2020“Like Water in the Desert” Splash Season. Maggie has been a swim instructor since the age of 14, and has been coaching on and off for the past seven years, both in the NVSL and, most recently, for Clark Swim Club. She swam at the collegiate level at Mary Washington as well. In the off season Maggie is an elementary educator and brings amazing energy and passion to the coaching role. We are very excited to have her.

We are welcoming back some familiar faces to help Maggie get to know your swimmers this season as well. Assistant Coach Megan Seykowski will be supported by Junior Coaches Jacob Macrina, Maddie Borlik, Sean Cochran and Ryan Murray!

THE DETAILS:
The cost is $100 per swimmer. Registration will be LIMITED and there are different, firmer eligibility requirements this season. Please adhere to the registration guidelines closely.

ELIGIBLITY:

  1. Swimmers must be at least 5 years old by June 1st AND ALSO be able to complete a MINIMUM of 50 METERS (2 lengths) of the pool, unassisted (meaning no kick board, floatation device, use of lane lines, etc), in any stroke. If you are unsure, contact a team rep for an evaluation.

HOW IT WORKS:

  1. The season will run from June 29th-July 31st for 12 practices total (see below)

  2. Three 45-minute practice sessions will be offered starting at 7:45am.

  3. Swimmers will be assigned a SESSION, a LANE, and either a “deep water” or “shallow water” designation. These assignments will not change during the season. Swimmers may not trade with other families and coaches will check during each practice to ensure the correct swimmer is in the correct practice and lane.

  4. TWO swimmers will be assigned to each lane, and each will start at opposite ends of the pool

  5. Swimmers will practice twice per week, and each group will be provided with two additional Friday practices on an alternating schedule

  6. Swimmers will arrive 5 minutes prior to practice, in swim suit, cap on (if desired), with goggles. Coaches will not be able to assist with these activities due to social distancing guidelines. Swimmers will line up in the parking lot behind cones marked with their lane assignment. Swimmers 10+ are strongly encouraged to wear a mask to the pool and remove it when they are in place behind their lane on the pool deck.

  7. All swimmers will complete a daily health screening. They will be admitted to practice when they have presented the screening to the coach and are dismissed by the coach, from the parking area, into their space.

  8. Parent/guardian of swimmers 10 and under will remain at the pool, in the parking area, for the duration of practice.

  9. Swimmers will be dismissed directly from the pool back to parent/guardian at the end of practice and are asked not to congregate in the pool area. Coaches will then disinfect the pool and reset for the next practice.

A FEW MORE NOTES:

  1. Coach Maggie has asked that our 8 and Under swimmers please bring a personal pool noodle or kick board to practice. The club cannot supply these. If this is not possible, please let us know.

  2. Need MERCH? The Fox Hunt Merchandise Store is OPEN! Click the link below to get your gear for a limited time (group code: Foxhunt).  Orders are due July 1st and will be delivered in mid July.
