Summer Is Coming. Here’s What We Know Today [4/21]

Will there be sign-ups? That’s the BIG question on everyone’s mind when it comes to the 2021 pool season. No matter if you are hoping for a rather restrictive pool environment or are ready for no restrictions at all, it’s a highly debated topic.

Please bear in mind that we still DO NOT have an updated ordinance from the governor with regards to pool regulations for summer 2021. We expect this to be released at the beginning of May. We plan to discuss the updates and make adjustments to our operations as needed.

Below you will find a summary of what we discussed as a possible plan, should the restrictions that are currently in place stay the same. This would be our MOST RESTRICTIVE operations of the season.

Tentative Pool Operations (as of April 21 - TO BE REVISED PRIOR TO OPENING)

  • We are currently planning for a hybrid sign-up model where members will still reserve time slots but we will also allow walk-ins, as long as we are within capacity limits. This means that if you reserve a time you are swimming during a certain day you can still try to walk-in again later that day. This also means that if you DO NOT SHOW UP for your reserved time slot, your slot may be given away to a walk-in after a 15 minute grace period. We will release more detailed information on this should we need to go this route. This should allow for us to serve more families on a daily basis that do not have reservations.

  • Pool sections. We currently plan to offer at least a few pool areas to families that want a more socially distanced swim experience. In this case families can reserve one of two single family use sections in the baby pool and one of two single family use sections in the main pool. The rest of the pool will be open swim.

  • The slide will reopen and we will also operate the diving boards again with social distancing measures enforced.

  • We are currently already allowed a 33% higher pool capacity than at the end of last year. With the options of the less restrictive open swim and only a few family section areas, plus the walk-in options we will be able to increase the overall pool usage significantly compared to last year.

  • We will also have our furniture out again. It will be spaced out more and the disinfecting/cleaning of the tables and chairs will be the members’ responsibility.

  • There will be a senior swim hour on Sunday mornings prior to pool opening from 10 - 11 a.m.

  • We are planning to hold some fun and safe social events. If you’re interested in getting involved, we are still looking for a social chair. Please reach out to president@foxhuntswimclub.org for more information on the position.

  • Guest policy. We have decided to make a decision on our guest policy at the beginning of May. As of now this is to be determined.

Swim Team Updates

  • Fox Hunt is THRILLED to welcome our new Head Coach for the 2021 season, Mr. Jared Diallo! Jared comes to us with experience both in the NVSL and year-round swimming, and is excited to get to share his love for the sport with a new community. He is looking forward to a fun summer!

  • We plan on holding regular swim team practices with social distancing and safety protocols in place

  • We will also be offering Mini-Splash practices.

  • While the NVSL hasn’t released exact details on the 2021 season yet, we are looking forward to the Splash participating in up to five NVSL dual meets, as well as in some additional b-meets with neighboring pools.

📣 Calling all junior coaches! If your swimmer is 15+ and interested in joining our coaching staff as mini-Splash or Junior Coach, please have them reach out to foxhuntsplash@outlook.com.

No matter what the 2021 season will bring, please rest assured that we are trying to make your summer at Fox Hunt as pleasant as possible.

We look forward to seeing you poolside in 38 days—but who’s counting?
